Not Sure If You Need a Neuropsychological Assessment?

Having trouble with focus, attention, organization, motivation or getting things done — and wondering if ADHD could be part of the picture?

Before committing to a full assessment, start with a 90-minute Consultation & Screening appointment with a member of our Ontario psychology team.

We’ll help you better understand your concerns and determine what next step may make the most sense.

This consultation is not a diagnostic assessment and does not provide an ADHD diagnosis.

A clearer first step

Before investing in a full assessment, get a better sense of whether you need one.

A comprehensive neuropsychological assessment can be an important step but it can also require a significant investment of time and money.

And not everyone who experiences difficulties with attention, motivation or organization ultimately needs a full assessment.

Our consultation service gives you an opportunity to explore your concerns first, so you can make a more informed decision about what to do next.

One appointment. 90 minutes. A clearer direction forward.

Is this for you?

You may benefit from a consultation if you’re wondering why you’re struggling with:

  • Staying focused or easily getting distracted
  • Starting or finishing tasks
  • Organization and time management
  • Procrastination
  • Motivation
  • Keeping up with school or work demands
  • Forgetfulness or losing track of things
  • Feeling overwhelmed by everyday responsibilities

How it works

A simple starting point

1. Book your consultation

Schedule a virtual 90-minute appointment with a member of our Ontario psychology team.

2. Talk through what’s been happening

We’ll explore your concerns, symptoms and how they may be affecting your academic, professional and everyday functioning.

3. Get guidance on your next step

Following the consultation, we’ll discuss the type of support that may be most appropriate based on what was identified.

Your consultation may lead to one of three pathways

The goal isn’t to assume you need an assessment.

It’s to help identify what may actually help.

Further Assessment

If your concerns suggest that a comprehensive psychological or neuropsychological assessment may be appropriate, we can help guide you toward an external assessment provider.

Psychotherapy

Sometimes concerns that look like they require a full assessment may overlap with stress, anxiety, mood, habits or other challenges. If psychotherapy appears to be a useful next step, we can connect you with a member of our team.

Academic Coaching

If your main challenges involve planning, organization, studying, procrastination or managing academic demands, academic coaching may be recommended to help you build practical strategies.

For students

Struggling at school doesn’t automatically mean you need an ADHD assessment.

Difficulty concentrating, procrastination, falling behind, disorganization or feeling overwhelmed can have different causes.

For ALUMO students in Ontario, this consultation provides an accessible starting point to better understand what may be getting in the way and which type of support may be most useful.

That could mean pursuing a comprehensive assessment, but it could also mean getting support sooner through psychotherapy or academic coaching.

Why start with a consultation?

More clarity before making a bigger commitment.

A full assessment may be the right choice but it doesn’t need to be your automatic first step.

Our consultation can help you:

  • Better understand your current difficulties
  • Explore whether ADHD may warrant further assessment
  • Avoid pursuing a lengthy and costly assessment when another form of support may be more appropriate
  • Identify practical next steps
  • Connect with the right type of support sooner

The goal is simple: help you make a more informed decision about what comes next.

Important to know

This is a screening consultation not a neuropsychological assessment.

The consultation is designed to help determine whether further assessment or another type of support may be appropriate.

It does not provide:

  • A formal diagnosis
  • A comprehensive psychological or neuropsychological assessment
  • Formal documentation for academic or workplace accommodations

If a full assessment is recommended, we can help direct you toward an appropriate external provider.
