She\u2019s upset and sad about not being with her loved ones for these momentous events.<\/p>\n<p>She\u2019s been having a hard time feeling grateful lately\u2026and understandably so. The concept, although simple in theory, yields powerful results.<\/p>\n<p>Following these 3 simple guidelines will help provide optimal results when practicing the gratefulness exercise :<\/p>\n<h4>1. Choose something simple<\/h4>\n<p>No need to find life-changing things to be grateful about. It can be as simple as :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"\"><span>Having a roof over your head<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"\"><span>Nice weather<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"\"><span>Streaming a great show<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>2. Choose something new<\/h4>\n<p>Try to pick something different every day. If you mention the same three things everyday, the exercise doesn\u2019t really engage your \u201cgratitude muscles\u201d. The purpose of the exercise is to make the effort to find things you\u2019re grateful for even on the worst of days.<\/p>\n<h4>3. Choose something you experienced<\/h4>\n<p>Don\u2019t mention what \u201cdid not happen\u201d. Thinking \u201cI\u2019m grateful I didn\u2019t have an accident\u201d, for example, simply reinforces negative thoughts.
